OMG is blasphemy, AND here's why!

Dear reader, thank you for coming back and if your here for the very first time welcome. So I had a familiar person use this terminology, defending that it meant something other than what it means. So this has motivated me to write this blog on the abbreviation "O.M.G". It may seem like a harmless abbreviation but let me tell you, it is not and it is a curse to you and blasphemy to the Holy God who created you. I wasn't a believer all my life, well not even for a 1/8 of it, yet I remember as a non believer that I did not like hearing someone say that abbreviation nor the full meaning. We all know, yes even non believers that there is a commandment to not blaspheme the name of God... in english He is God, in other languages YHWH, Jehovah but we know who we talk about when we say God, it's the God of the bible.
Exodus 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.[c]
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”
As you can see above, the 3rd commandment is " “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain."
So, in vain... to use a name, such as God, without proper respect. abuse, misuse, pervert. change the inherent purpose or function of something. So when one shouts out "OMG" it is not in the sense he or she is in reverence or praise. If he or she was in a place of solitude in prayer and said " Oh my God how great thou art" this would be in reverence and praise to Him that is above the heavens. But that is not what the abbreviation means at all, oh I know, i've even heard it from those that profess to be believers, that it means something else like "oh my goodness" and if that's so, then use that phrase because the abbreviation "OMG" was created to mean exactly what it was meant to mean and that was blasphemy.
Maybe you're now pondering how am I so adamant that "OMG" is blasphemy, well because there was NO such abbreviation until a british man named lord Fisher. This man was a british naval officer, and being like all man living in their flesh, was bolsteing about the great military might of his country during WWI and in this times, wrote a letter to Winston Churchill on the 9th of September 1917. Now below you will see this very historic letter;

So as you can see the very abbreviation was intended to mean the very exact thing it means. Who is this lord John Fisher the man that is credited to introducing the world into a blasphemous state by using this abbreviation ubiquitously. At the time he wrote this letter he was a retired admiral of the british navy. He was a friend of Winston Churchill. You see like many of us we seek the rewards of this world, we can even be someone that attends church regularly and even claims they believe in Jesus Christ, but even the demons and Satan believe in this. I bring this up, because this was lord Fishers demeanor, Throughout his life he was a "religious" man and attended church regularly when ashore. He had a passion for sermons and might attend two or three services in a day to hear them, which he would "discuss afterwards with great animation". However, he was a denier of the true God and the power of saving grace that comes from what Christ Jesus has done for us all on the cross, for he was discreet in expressing his religious views because he feared public attention might hinder his professional career. So like so many, they say, read or go to a building that claims to be a church... but what is the church...
It is defined as the body of Christ, the family of God, and a holy people set apart to worship, fellowship, and spread the Gospel. So it's not a building, the building is a mere blessing to have, a place where followers of Christ can worship together, fellowship together and be of use to one another for the sake of Christ. You see, if you truly are a believer you would not deny your Savior Jesus Christ, nor the God you serve for the sake of career, for man is not in control of anything, but God is and therefore we share our faith, we deny ourselves and pick up our cross as He did for us.
If you're going to church and it feels like the world, then I would say it is of the world. I am not saying that within the body of Christ is full of perfect people, in fact it is quit the opposite, full of us humans... and guess what, we're all sinners, but we are saved by the grace of God alone and in this, if we are truly Born Again in the spirit JOHN 3:3 and have done what Jesus taught, to REPENT, to turn from your ways and to have a different way of thinking that aligns with pleasing and glorifying the God who created all things, then you will grow to hate sin like He hates sin. Within the sanctification of our walk we grow to become more like Christ, but there is a lot of remoulding happening within our hearts and souls to change what we once were (1 Corinthians 6:11) into becoming more like Christ until glorification.
I pray that this will open your eyes to how the world tries to lighten sin, and we use it as if its normal, in the world it is this way, but in the eyes of a Holy, Righteous and Just God it is not and all will have their day of judgement before Him and if you're not repented and born again you will face eternal hell. So what is stopping you, it is your sin that you love, and the pride of the flesh that stops us from being humble before a mighty God. We all have an appointment with death, but you can change where you will be after death, by getting on your hands and knees and crying out for His mercy and forgiveness for all your sins and if it is true from your heart, He will listen and He will answer.
Yours by God's Grace
Dean
